The symbolic system of the Russian historical song as a code of the national spirit
The Russian historical song, distinct from epics and lyrical songs, documents real historical events. This study reveals that its landscape imagery (rivers, steppes, forests), spatial structures (cities, roads) and core symbols (sun, eagles, ravens) form an integrated artistic-semiotic system. This system functions not as mere background but as an active mechanism for interpreting history. It encodes and transmits fundamental traits of the Russian national consciousness: a profound experience of suffering and tragedy, a spirit of resistance and struggle, a fatalistic acceptance of fate, a stable identity based on sacred concepts like "Rus" and "the land," and an unquenchable thirst for freedom. Therefore, the historical song serves as a crucial carrier of collective memory and an instrument for shaping the national spirit.
Key words: historical song, Russian national spirit, landscape symbolism, collective memory, national consciousness, spatial structures, imagery system, suffering and resistance, fatalism, national identity.

Morphological peculiarities and word-building potential of Tajik adverbial prefix no- and its English equivalents
The article dwells on the issues beset with the comparative analysis of word-building potential of Tajik adverbial prefix no- and its English equivalents. It is noted that adverb is recognized as an independent part of speech in the comparative languages. However, its classification as a special category in these languages is uncertain, their lexical boundaries are wide, and their functional types are diverse.
Designing on the premise of the relevant traces entitled as “English-Tajik Dictionary” by A.Mamadnazarov (2021), “A Brief Word-Building Dictionary of Tajik Literary Language” (1983), “Temur Malik – Tajik People`s Hero. Muqanna`s Rebellion” (2022), “Ghulomon” by S.Aini (2019) and “A Book of Golden Deeds” by Jim Manis (2004) the author of the article considers word-building potential of Tajik adverbial prefixes no- and its English equivalents properly.
Adducing the results of the analysis of the theme explored one can come to the conclusion that word-building potential of the prefix in question forming Tajik adverbs is of many similarities and differences in certain cases. Designing on the premise of the above-adduced diagram we can emphasize that the majority of English equivalents of Tajik derivative adverbs formed by the prefix in question are mix structural (64%) and derivative ones (17%) ones. Hereby, we can dwell on those English equivalents of Tajik derivative words formed by no- that are not identical and some of them are used and translated as simple, derivative, compound & mix structural and composite ones.
Key words: adverbs, prefix, derivative adverbs, comparative analysis, morphological peculiarities, English equivalents, word-building potential.

Mechanisms of metaphorization in the construction of verb-additions
The article examines in detail the mechanisms of metaphorization in the construction of verb-additions of the modern Russian language. The purpose of the study is to identify systemic models of metaphorical reinterpretation and to determine the role of metaphor as a cognitive and word–formation tool in the development of verbal vocabulary. The methodology is based on the theoretical analysis of cognitive concepts, including conceptual metaphor, the fusion of frames and figurative schemes, as well as on typological modeling and structural and semantic analysis of modern texts of journalistic, artistic and online discourse. The results of the study allowed us to identify four main models of metaphorization in verb-additions: the transfer of the characteristics "action – action", "action – state", metaphor through the image of the subject or object of action, as well as spatial and temporal associations. The key cognitive mechanisms of semantic rethinking are described, including the concepts "thinking – movement", "emotion – fire" and the figurative schemes "path", "balance", "contact". Expressive and pragmatic functions of metaphorical verb-additions are established, such as language play, image enhancement and stylistic techniques in author's and media speech. The final conclusion is that metaphorization is a key factor in updating the word-formation system of the Russian language, ensuring the dynamics of vocabulary, the expansion of polysemy and the formation of new meanings.
Key words: metaphorization, compound verbs, word formation, cognitive mechanisms, semantic analysis, linguistic expression, Russian language.

Identification and categorization of metaphors based on their cognitive structures
The article describes how sustainable development is often conceptualized using metaphors, i.e. powerful cognitive tools that shape how people perceive and communicate complex problems. Metaphors connect abstract concepts with familiar experiences, making them more accessible. This study examines how people conceptualize sustainable development through metaphors based on informal conversations with students. During the open discussions, the stability of language structures and deeper cognitive patterns underlying these expressions were revealed. To analyze these metaphors, we used the methodology of type hierarchy using artificial intelligence, classifying them based on their cognitive structures.
Key words: cognitive patterns, artificial intelligence, metaphors, sustainable development, cognitive-linguistic approach, research, discussion, thoughts.

The "new woman" in literature and life: Fyodor Gladkov's gender experiment and female self-awareness of the era
This article examines the character of Darya Chumalova from F. Gladkov's novel Cement not only as a literary type but also as a semantic node intersecting the gender policy of the young Soviet state, the artistic construction of the "new woman," and the processes of shaping female self-awareness. The author proposes interpreting the literary female character as a "gender construct" that simultaneously reflects and shapes social notions of women's destiny. Using the novel Cement and its later critical receptions, the article demonstrates how the literary text contributes to the development of a gender agenda, offering readers models of identification while simultaneously revealing the internal contradictions of the emancipatory project. Particular attention is paid to the episode involving the placement of the protagonist's daughter in an orphanage and her death. This plot device is viewed as an artistic harbinger of the collapse of the radical "socialization" of motherhood and as a symptom of the transition to the conservative gender policy of the 1930s. This article contributes not only to literary studies but also to the historical and sociological study of Soviet literature and may be useful for researchers studying the gender aspects of 20th-century Russian prose.
Key words: F. Gladkov, "Cement," Daria Chumalova, gender agenda, female self-awareness, emancipation, Soviet literature, orphanage, gender studies, literary canon.

Functional and pragmatic features of communication strategies in the English-language business media interview genre
This article examines the functional and pragmatic characteristics of communication strategies in the English-language business media interview genre. The study aims to identify the leading strategies of interviewers and interviewees, define their pragmatic functions, and describe the linguistic means of their implementation. The material is based on 120 English-language business interviews published between 2019 and 2026 on the platforms of Bloomberg, CNBC, Financial Times, BBC Business, Forbes, and Harvard Business Review. Based on discourse, pragmalinguistic, content-analytical, and quantitative analysis, it is established that interviewers more often use problematization, clarification, and provocation of institutional responsibility, while interviewees tend to use reputational self-presentation, controlled transparency, risk mitigation, and a shift in focus. The obtained results refine the genre model of the business media interview as a hybrid format of institutional communication.

The peculiarities of grammar-norms` variation (with regard to English content)
The article deals with the features of grammatical variation, which is closely related to the linguistic norm concept. The fact that the notion of linguistic variation has been being studied for a long time, allows to accumulate a vast amount of practical issues, offering the opportunity to take a fresh look at its traditional views. The rendering of one and the the same entity is understood in terms of the opposition between the invariant (language) and the variant (speech), that is one of the key peculiarities of the multiple grammatical subsystems` coexistence characterized by specific linguistic and communicative features. Some types of variable grammatical organization are found in speech constructions, which presupposes the new aspect of grammar research aimed at the identifying the unique features of communicative norms. Modern internet space speech manners embrace the grammatical variants acceptability that is determined by the purpose of utterance, situational context, and communicative intention.

Some issues beset with equivalence and syntactic transformations in the translation of complex sentences in English and Tajik
The given article dwells on some issues beset with equivalence and syntactic transformations in the translation of complex sentences between English and Tajik. The main purpose of the study is to identify, analyze, and systematize the types of syntactic transformations employed in translating complex sentences from Tajik into English and vice versa, with particular focus on achieving functional equivalence. The findings reveal several major types of syntactic transformations: transformation of simple sentences into complex ones, compound sentences into complex ones, complex sentences into simple ones, personal-to-impersonal transformation, syntactic reduction and expansion, semantic specification and generalization, and shifts in informational focus. The study particularly highlights the pivotal role of the universal Tajik conjunction "ки" (ki), which performs the functions of numerous English relative pronouns and subordinating conjunctions. The study concludes that successful translation of complex sentences requires the translator to employ various syntactic and semantic transformations to ensure the logical unity and communicative effectiveness of the target text, with the translator's art lying in selecting the appropriate transformation strategy that preserves both semantic content and stylistic nuances.
Key words: syntactic transformations, equivalence, complex sentences, compound sentences, translation theory, English-Tajik translation, contrastive linguistics, conjunction "ки", functional equivalence, syntactic reduction, literary translation.

Zoomorphic metaphor as a cognitive mechanism of term formation in English economic publicistic discourse
The article aims to study the cognitive mechanisms of understanding economic reality, where zoomorphic metaphors perform not only a stylistic but also a terminological function. The paper identifies the ways of word formation and phrase formation of new metaphorical terms based on zoomorphic metaphor in English economic publicistic discourse. The research shows that the most frequent is the binary opposition «bulls and bears», within which new terms are created through attributive modification and terminological derivation while the stems remain unchanged.
Key words: zoomorphic metaphor, economic discourse, conceptual metaphor, term formation, neologism, media discourse, cognitive linguistics.

Features of word-formation models of verb-additions in modern Russian
The article examines the features of word-formation models of verb-additions in modern Russian. The purpose of the study is to identify the main structural types of complex verbs, their semantic features, formal features, including stress, morphemic boundaries and affixation, as well as to determine the productivity of these models in modern speech. The methodology is based on structural and semantic analysis, a comparative method involving data from other Slavic languages, as well as on the analysis of media texts and Internet communication. The results allowed us to identify three main types of semantic relations between the components of complex verbs: equality of actions, characterization of the mode of action and causality. The emotional-evaluative function of verb-additions, which makes speech more imaginative, expressive and emotionally intense, is revealed in detail. The main areas of use are revealed: colloquial speech, fiction, professional jargon and individual author's speech. The significant role of media texts and social networks in the formation and popularization of new verb-additions has been established. Current development trends are described, including the active growth of neologisms and hybridization with Anglicisms in the digital environment. The final conclusion is made about the specifics and important significance of verb-additions in the development of the word-formation system of the modern Russian language.
Key words: complex verbs, word formation, Russian language, semantics, morphology, neologisms, language dynamics, Slavic languages, media texts, social networks.

"Managed Fragmentation": macroregions and the new rules of the global game
This article analyzes the phenomenon of macroregionalization as a key trend in the transformation of international relations by 2026. It introduces the concept of "managed fragmentation" – a state in which global unity gives way to the coexistence of stable regional blocs, zones of turbulence, and "fault lines." Drawing on the theory of regional security complexes (the Copenhagen School), it examines four main macroregions (the Global West, the Global East, the Global South, and Greater Eurasia), their institutional structure (BRICS, SCO, EAEU, ASEAN, etc.), and competitive interactions. Particular attention is paid to five characteristics of the current stage: the deconcentration of power, the formation of "zones of responsibility," competition between norms, "managed instability," and the reassembling of the concept of security. It is concluded that the key challenge of 2026 is the ability of the "global majority" to transform quantitative consolidation into qualitative stability, avoiding permanent turbulence.
Key words: macroregionalization, managed fragmentation, Global South, Global East, BRICS, SCO, EAEU, multipolarity, regional security complexes, international relations, institutional competition, Greater Eurasia.

Bilateral relations between the DPRK and the Republic of Belarus in the new millennium: retrospective and current state
This article analyzes the history of bilateral relations between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Belarus from the early 1990s to the present.
The author attempts to periodize these bilateral relations, dividing them chronologically into three stages based on the intensity of both political and economic interactions. Due to the paucity of data on bilateral trade and the general lack of quantitative information on the topic, the article focuses primarily on specific aspects of interaction. These include the sale of Belarusian MAZ and MZKT tractors to North Korea and the possible servicing of North Korean fighter jets by Belarusian equipment.
The author also analyzes the doctrinal basis of the two countries' foreign policies – the Juche idea as the foundation of North Korean foreign policy thinking – and the legal framework for Belarusian foreign policy. The "public diplomacy" aspect of bilateral relations is assessed, highlighting interparty cooperation and tourism.
The article concludes by noting the intensification of bilateral ties between the DPRK and Belarus in the new decade. The article notes the increased frequency of visits by Pyongyang delegations to Minsk and the prospects for bilateral cooperation. However, the author concludes that the international sanctions regime remains the main constraint on the development of trade between the countries, as does the low interest of Belarusian businesses in the North Korean market.
Key words: Belarus, DPRK, North Korea, sanctions, arms trade, CIS, Alexander Lukashenko.

The development of ancient cultural tourism resources in Azerbaijan and preservation in UNESCO
This study explores the formation, development, and preservation of ancient cultural tourism resources in Azerbaijan within the framework of UNESCO’s heritage protection principles. The main objective is to evaluate how the country integrates its tangible and intangible cultural heritage into sustainable tourism development while ensuring their conservation for future generations. The study employs a mixed-methods methodology integrating qualitative and quantitative approaches, including analysis of official UNESCO documents and national cultural policy reports, case studies of key heritage sites, as well as comparative analysis and GIS-based spatial analysis. Particular attention is given to the Historic Centre of Sheki with the Khan’s Palace, the Icherisheher complex with the Maiden Tower and the Shirvanshahs’ Palace, and the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, all of which represent Azerbaijan’s outstanding universal value. The study further examines Azerbaijan’s initiatives in promoting cultural tourism through strategic planning, infrastructure improvement, and international cooperation. It highlights the government’s policies supporting the protection of both tangible and intangible heritage, including traditional arts such as mugham, ashig performance, and carpet weaving. Findings reveal that the integration of heritage resources into the tourism sector not only enhances national identity and cultural continuity but also fosters intercultural dialogue and sustainable regional development. The paper concludes that effective preservation, community engagement, and global partnerships are essential for maintaining the authenticity and visibility of Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage in the international arena.

From Slaсhter’s Nek to Retief’s manifesto (1815–1837): systemic contradictions of British colonial policy and the formation of Boer "Identity of Refusal"
The article examines the systemic contradictions of British colonial policy in the Cape Colony between 1815 and 1837, which catalyzed the Great Trek and shaped a unique Boer "identity of refusal". The study aims to identify the institutional mechanisms that led to the mass exodus of Afrikaners beyond the control of the new administration. The research is methodologically grounded in comparative historical analysis, historical genealogy, and the discourse deconstruction of official documents from the metropole. The study demonstrates that the Great Trek was not an archaic flight from modernization but rather a rational response to a sequence of destructive reforms: the forced devaluation of the rixdollar, linguistic assimilation, Ordinance No. 50, and the erection of insurmountable bureaucratic barriers to receiving compensation. A comparative analysis of P. Retief's Manifesto and the secret despatches of the Secretary of State for War and the Colonies Lord Glenelg reveals a fundamental governance problem: London acknowledged the dysfunctionality of its own apparatus while simultaneously refusing to recognize the agency and rationality of the colonists.
Key words: Great Trek, Cape Colony, Afrikaners, British colonial policy, identity, Ordinance No. 50, Retief Manifesto, Lord Glenelg, Schlachter's Nek.

From revenue cutters to the coast guard: the institutional formation of the US maritime law enforcement service (1790–1915)
The article examines the institutional formation of the U.S. Coast Guard as a result of the evolution and merger of several government services from 1790 to 1915. Based on the analysis of historical sources and agency documents, the authors trace the transformation of the Revenue Marine Service from a small fleet of ten vessels, established on the initiative of Alexander Hamilton for customs collection, to a multifunctional agency integrating the functions of the Lighthouse Service, the Life-Saving Service, and law enforcement bodies. Special attention is paid to the formation of the service's dual (military-civilian) identity, its participation in armed conflicts, the development of the rescue function, Arctic expeditions, and the creation of a professional training system. The authors conclude that the 1915 merger was the logical outcome of a long institutional evolution, which secured the Coast Guard's unique place within the structure of American armed forces and law enforcement agencies.
Key words: U.S. Coast Guard, Revenue Marine Service, Life-Saving Service, Alexander Hamilton, maritime security, institutional evolution, Department of Homeland Security.

The issue of afghan refugees in Iran after the Taliban’s rise to power in Afghanistan in 2021
The article examines the issue of Afghan refugees in Iran after the withdrawal of U.S. and NATO troops from Afghanistan and the Taliban’s return to power in 2021. Particular attention is paid to the main routes and conditions of Afghans’ flight to Iran, as well as to the country’s place among the key host states. The article analyzes Iran’s specific measures aimed at addressing the new migration crisis, the already existing mechanisms of refugee support, and the country’s cooperation with international organizations, primarily UN agencies. It also considers Iran’s own crisis situation in the 2020s, which led to the tightening of migration policy, the strengthening of deportation measures, and the growing prominence of security rhetoric in 2024–2025. The authors conclude that Iran’s policy toward Afghan refugees had a dual character: it combined broad and diversified assistance, including through cooperation with international organizations, with strict measures to ensure national security amid an increased terrorist threat and a severe economic situation.
Key words: Afghan refugees, Iran, Taliban, Migration, Humanitarian assistance.

Russian the role of the «secondary» interventors and their interaction with the white movement in 1918-1920
The article examines the role of «minor» interventionists during the Russian Civil War. During the historical period under review, military personnel from Britain and France were active participants in military intervention, however, such «secondary» countries as Greece, Italy, Serbia, Poland, and Romania also participated in hostilities in Southern Russia. Greece aimed to gain territories in Asia Minor in exchange for assistance in countering the Bolshevik threat in Russia. The military from Greece represented the most combat-ready formations of the Allied coalition, since the country entered the First World War rather late (in the summer of 1917). As part of their allied obligations, the Greeks proved to be disciplined and responsible military personnel who were capable of fulfilling the strategic objectives set by the overall command. However, the lack of motivation for resistance on the part of the White movement, as well as the fatigue of the British and French soldiers and sailors, and the officer corps, led to the withdrawal of the coalition forces, including the Greek military, from the southern regions of Russia. The participation of Romania, Serbia, Italy, and Poland was driven by various goals and motivations. They concerned coalition actions against the Bolsheviks in the South of Russia, the national interests of individual countries, the realization of geopolitical ambitions, and territorial acquisitions. At the same time, for example, the White movement's leaders' vision of an indivisible Russia clashed with the interests of Poland and Romania, who sought to expand their territories at the expense of Russia. Their primary goal was to weaken Russia and take advantage of its inability to counter the «allies» from the Entente countries. In the end, the contribution of the «minor» participants was rather modest, so they began to leave Russia gradually in early 1919.
Key words: Civil War, "secondary" interventionists, White movement, Bolsheviks, Greek Corps.

Based on the legal status of various strata of Old Russian society, it examines the development of social inequality, legally enshrined in the differentiated fines and community responsibility described in «Russkaya Pravda». It examines how the differences in the legal status of privileged classes from dependent categories of the population, described in the text of the document, consolidated the «Russkaya Pravda» not only as a set of laws, but also as an instrument for maintaining the feudal order.

Kamchatka resettlement expedition 1908-1909: goals, results, administrative changes
The article examines the turning point in the history of Kamchatka at the beginning of the twentieth century, when, after the unsuccessful Russo-Japanese War, the peninsula became the object of close attention from the leadership of the empire. The Kamchatka resettlement expedition of 1908-1909, equipped with the Resettlement Administration to clarify the colonization significance of Kamchatka and the possibility of developing agriculture in the context of the ongoing agrarian reform, did not leave behind a systematic description in the form of a report or any other work. Based on the testimonies of contemporaries (N.V. Slyunin, P.F. Unterberger and others) and historical documents, complex climatic and living conditions, the lack of infrastructure, which together made the agricultural colonization of the region irrational, are shown. However, the very fact of the organization and work of the resettlement expedition on the peninsula, coupled with the formation of the Kamchatka region in 1909, allows us to consider it as one of the tools to draw attention to the region, which for a long time was considered a forgotten outskirts.
Key words: Kamchatka, resettlement expedition, colonization, N.V. Slyunin, V.K. Rubinsky.

Historical experience of the development of the information security system in the RSFSR in 1929–1941. Part 3. Information protection by technical means
Ensuring information security is a systemic process, and the young Soviet state developed this system from its earliest days. However, as the conditions of state development, including threats and opportunities, changed, the situation in the information sphere evolved. Of scholarly interest is the question of how the information security system evolved in the complex realities of the 1930s, when the government confronted serious external and internal threats to state stability and independence. Part 3 of this article is devoted to the organization of technical information security in the USSR. After coming to power, I.V. Stalin set the goal of overcoming the general lag behind the West and its scientific and technological dependence on its advances. This article examines how this task was accomplished in the 1930s, how the scientific and industrial infrastructure for ensuring the confidentiality of wired (telegraph, telephone) and wireless (radio) communications was created, and what results were achieved in protecting government and military information.
Key words: information, information security, wired communication, radio communication, encryption equipment, voice information security.

On the socio-political situation of the academic community of Moscow University in 1917
This article provides an overview of the historiography of foreign and Russian researchers on the situation of the academic community and higher education in Russia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The works of Nikitienko, Rachkovskaya, Nicks and a number of other researchers studying the economic, political and social conditions of the academic community, as well as its relationship with the state and society, are analyzed. It is illustrated that despite a significant number of works devoted to this issue, the aspect of the perception of the 1917 processes by the academic community of Moscow University remains partially studied. The absence of a consistent and comprehensive analysis of social processes within Moscow University from February to October 1917, the degree of activity of student organizations, political activities of the faculty and students has been revealed.
Key words: historiography, academic community, Moscow University, perception of the revolution, intelligentsia, sources of personal origin, student organizations, financial situation, radicalism, social category.

Mechanisms of identity formation in Bolshevik propaganda (based on materials from the Yenisei province, 1918–1920)
The article analyzes the mechanisms of identity formation in the propaganda of the Bolsheviks in the Yenisei Province during the Civil War (1918–1920). It examines three key images through which Bolshevik propaganda constructed the category of "us": the image of the liberator-hero, the image of the defender, and the image of popular power. The main mechanisms of their formation are identified: heroization through appeals to front-line soldiers and the creation of a cult of local heroes; defense through contrast with the image of the bestial enemy and naturalistic descriptions of its atrocities; legitimation through the assertion of the soviets as the sole exponents of the working people's will, reinforced by concrete actions. The conclusion argues that the integrated use of these mechanisms allowed the Bolsheviks to become “us” for the province's population, consolidating a new identity not only during the war but also in the post-war period.
Key words: Civil War, propaganda, identity, image of the enemy, image of “us”, Yenisei Province, Krasnoyarskii Rabochii, Bolsheviks, Soviet power, mechanisms of identity formation.

Soviet and post-Soviet historiography on the fuel industry under the provisional government: a paradigm shift and a reassessment of the facts
The article is devoted to the analysis of the evolution of Russian historiography in relation to the problem of the fuel industry during the period of the Provisional Government (March–October 1917). Based on a comparison of Soviet and post-Soviet research approaches, fundamental paradigmatic shifts in the interpretation of the fuel crisis of the revolutionary year are revealed. It is shown that Soviet historical science, using the tools of class analysis and teleological constructions, systematically underestimated the institutional efforts of the Provisional Government in the field of fuel supply, ignored the regional specifics of the crisis and did not raise counterfactual questions about the real managerial alternatives available to the transitional state. Post-Soviet historiography, relying on an expanded archival base and methodological pluralism, reconstructed the activities of regulatory structures - the Main Economic Committee, district fuel commissioners - revealed the continuity of management practices through the turn of 1917 and offered a differentiated view of the crisis as a multi-level process determined by a combination of military, infrastructural and administrative factors, rather than solely class contradictions. At the same time, the article captures the persistent lacunae of post-Soviet historiography: the fragmentation of local research, the lack of a synthetic narrative covering the full range of regional and sectoral dimensions of the crisis, as well as the underdevelopment of the comparative dimension, which makes it possible to fit the Russian experience into the pan-European context of the military and economic upheavals of the early 20th century. The integration of microhistorical and institutional approaches into a single analytical framework capable of providing an exhaustive explanation of the nature of the 1917 fuel collapse in its interrelation with the broader processes of disintegration of military-state regulation in late imperial Russia is identified as a promising area.
Key words: fuel crisis, Provisional Government, historiography, state regulation, revolution of 1917.

The city hospital in the sanitary control system: a comparative analysis of medical institutions in St. Petersburg and major cities of western Siberia in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries
The article provides a comparative analysis of the role of urban hospitals in the sanitary control system of St. Petersburg and major cities in Western Siberia in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The author shows that the capital had a comprehensive, institutionalized system that integrated hospitals into its preventive, laboratory, and administrative infrastructure. In Western Siberia, hospitals remained isolated institutions that responded to epidemiological crises but lacked the capacity for systemic prevention. This contrast can be attributed not only to the level of wealth, but also to the maturity of local self-government and the availability of human and scientific resources. Special attention is paid to the activities of provincial medical inspectors, city councils, and the role of charity in the periphery. The article also examines the differences in the organization of children's medical care and sanitary culture. A comparative approach allows us to identify the underlying features of imperial changes.
Key words: sanitary supervision, city hospital, Western Siberia, St. Petersburg, infectious diseases, city government, provincial medical inspectors, disinfection stations, City Chemical and Bacteriological Laboratory, comparative analysis.

Trade union documentation as a source of regional school routine: Irkutsk teacher of the 1960s-1970s.
The article reconstructs the everyday life of a teacher in Irkutsk during the 1960s–1970s by juxtaposing two fundamentally different bodies of sources: publications of Uchitelskaya Gazeta (Teachers' Newspaper) as a conveyor of the all-Union normative image of the Soviet educator, and trade union documentation from the Centre for Documentation of Contemporary History of the State Archive of Irkutsk Oblast. The study identifies a structural gap between the official all-Union ideal and the actual working and living conditions of teachers in Irkutsk Oblast. It traces the shifting profile of trade union grievances – from wage and tariff disputes in the first half of the 1960s toward everyday welfare and supply problems in the second half of the decade. The article demonstrates that the resilience of the Soviet school in the region was sustained not by state institutions in their official capacity, but by an extensive network of informal compensatory practices: industrial patronage, trade union mutual aid, a system of "model schools," and horizontal methodological exchange. This article is a direct continuation of a previously published study on the image of the Soviet teacher in Uchitelskaya Gazeta, and offers a "counter-perspective": what remained invisible in the official narrative becomes discernible through archival sources.

Chronicle as a tool of political struggle during the reign of Ivan III: reception of the image of Dmitry Donskoy and the rhetoric of "zadonshchina" in the context of the Battle of Shelona
The study raises the issue of the role of chronicling in shaping the political ideology of the Moscow state during the reign of Ivan III. A textual analysis of various chronicles was carried out (the Moscow Chronicle of the end of the 15th century, the Lviv Chronicle, the Sofia First Chronicle, and the Fourth Novgorod Chronicle), which demonstrates the process of chronicle transition from a mere record of events to a tool for legitimizing the centralization of power and establishing dynastic rights. It is noteworthy that the chroniclers of the reign of Ivan III quite actively addressed the discourse of "Zadonshchina" and the image of Dmitry Ivanovich Donskoy, including the Battle of Shelon in the heroic tradition of the Battle of Kulikovo, forming the sacred image of the ruler of Moscow in the role of defender of the Russian land. Special attention is paid to editorial policy: selection, interpolation, which allowed chroniclers to adapt the historical past to the tasks of the present political moment.
Key words: "Zadonshchina", Dmitry Donskoy, Ivan III chronicles, Kulikovo field, Battle of Shelon.

«History textbooks» of the 1920s as a means of state and party propaganda
The article examines the specific features of history textbooks in the 1920s as instruments for disseminating and entrenching state ideology among broad masses of students. The aim of the study was to identify the characteristics of textbooks that enhanced the effectiveness of ideological indoctrination during the 1920s. The research methods include historical-comparative analysis and diachronic analysis of changes in both the content and structure of the textbooks. The study concludes that the distinctive manner of presenting historical material in the textbooks under review simultaneously facilitated the rapid indoctrination of students and effectively led to the dismantling of history education.
Key words: unified labor school, educational policy in the 1920s, social studies, workbook, history textbook, school reform.
