Alexander Pushkin, the father of Russian literature, is one of the greatest writers in 19th century Russia. His works have great significance for his personal literary career and the development of Russian literature. Among them, The Stationmaster is one of the most popular short stories in Pushkin’s Belkin Stories. For a long time, scholars have conducted numerous studies on this novel, mostly from a humanitarian perspective, emphasizing the existence and disappearance of class barriers reflected in the novel. However, they have ignored the spatial elements in the novel and neglected the exploration of spatial art in the novel. Therefore, this paper will interpret the text from the perspective of spatial criticism, examine the fate of the protagonist in the novel, and thus more deeply understand the connotation and creative intention of Pushkin’s classic works.
